Ziqian Liu is a self-portraiture photographer whose work frequently serves as a collaboration between humans and the natural world. Her works celebrates a sense of quiet and creates a place of calmness for viewers to pause a while. She encourages to viewers to slow down and simply enjoy the symbiotic relationship between us and our planet, whenever it is allowed.

What inspires me about this artist is the sense of peace and solitude behind each photograph. The negative space and muted colour pallet just feel so quiet. I also love the sense of subtle geometry. Each image has a strong, intentional and balanced composition which adds to the feeling of unity. There is also a really purposeful use of colour, she uses small pops of it in each image creating grounding focal points.

I am inspired by her works to experiment with conveying a human presence through obscurity and absurdity simultaneously.
