Victoria Danko is a Ukrainian based product photographer whose work is recognised by brands for it’s timeless and considered qualities.

Technically speaking, Danko has highly developed control of light and shadow. This is particularly evident in her jewelry shots where the highlights are incredibly refined. Her control over reflections makes for really precise representations of each items form and material qualities

Aesthetically, the refined lighting, when combined with her cohesive style and timeless colour pallet create really elegant photographs. This elegance is then balanced by her playful and curious styling. She forges atypical parings in many of her shots, often combining food with jewellry. This makes each ‘advertising image’ feel more interesting to viewers as it allows a brand personality to come through.

For example, one of her works for ‘Love You Jewels’ pairs two bangles in a minimalistic, balanced composition with fairy-floss. The cotton candy combined with the heart shaped pieces provides a sense of warmth, sweetness, comfort and fun that forge an effective brand personality. Similarly, her shots for Artifact provide a curious and somewhat cheeky brand narrative by placing the product on a precarious stack of dishware. These shots have me considering how I could approach my own styling and set design. From here I may trial writing down some narratives based on all my props and then consider how I could style them to interact before even adding the product in.

Commercial project, Victoria Danko, 2026

Danko is also really successful at ensuring the product is the hero of the shot despite the more intricate styling and number of elements in each scene. One of her latest commercial projects is a good example of this. Here the pieces appear almost as though they are on a stage dancing. The tomato she has them balanced on here is largely cropped out but still visible enough to add a touch of curiosity and quirkiness and means for contemplation from viewers.

Overall, I am inspired by Danko’s control and restraint both in her styling and her lighting. I will be drawing on her use of composition and colour throughout my own images.
